Rocktron Xpression Multi Effects Processor – Not Just for Guitar

When one thinks of Rocktron, visions of guitar and bass effects units fill our heads like sparkling presents fill the heads of children on Christmas day. With a full line of stompbox style effects, rack effects and now amplifiers, Rocktron has all the bases covered. The Rocktron Hush is a well known noise reduction unit, as are the guitar multi effects the company produces. Artists like Jerry Cantrell (of Alice in Chains), Dave Moustaine (Megadeth) and John 5 (formerly with Marylin Manson and currently working with Rob Zombie) are but a few of the professionals using Rocktron gear.

What’s in it for you?

Whether you love the classic stompbox type effect or the rack mounted type processor you can’t go wrong with this line. Dependability is built into these durable, finely crafted multi effects units.

The Rocktron Xpression is a powerhouse effects processor and it isn’t limited to use as a guitar processor. The Xpression sports all of the effects that you would expect to find in a good quality multi effects processor and is suitable for us in any studio.

When used as a guitar multi effects processor the Xpression has a variety of effects together with cabinet and mic modeling, though the unit doesn’t include an amp modeler. So while it can be used for guitar effects, the Xpression can be used as a complete multi effects solution. In fact, when using this unit for guitar effects, you will need a good guitar preamp. And, in our opinion, a better choice for use as a modeling guitar processor is the Rocktron Prophesy.

A Rack Mountable Processor for Studio or Stage
The Rocktron Xpression, when used with a tube preamp and guitar amp, gives you the ability to dial up a tone to suit nearly any style of music. When used for bass effects, the high pass filter allows your instrument the punch needed by limiting the low frequencies and allowing the upper frequencies that can be easily robbed using other effects pedals to ring through. The standard array of effects is rounded out by the inclusion of a parametric EQ, speaker simulator and a bright, clean multi-voiced delay, making it suitable for any studio rack as well.

All of the effects parameters are MIDI programmable using the Rocktron MIDI controller. This controller is designed especially for the Rocktron line. The Xpression has a second power outlet on the back of the unit that can be used to supply power to the MIDI controller.

Versatility is built into this great multi effects unit. With pricing lower than some of the Boss multi effects with comparable functionality, a Rocktron Xpression should be investigated for consideration into your tonal arsenal.
